The Newman Holiday Trust is not just a once-a-year thing; events happen throughout the seasons, for fun or fundraising or both. Facebook and Twitter are the best places to find out about what is coming up, but here are some events which happen quite regularly…
Comedy Night
The legendary Newman Holiday Trust Comedy Night in London has seen a host of major performers on top form, including Omid Djalili, Ed Byrne, Alistair McGowan, Mickey Flanagan and Nina Conti. A huge prize draw also takes place. Adults only, all welcome, food available.
Carols and Barrels – London, Nottingham and Manchester
An annual Christmas singalong gathered round the piano, usually at the Palm Tree pub in east London, the Hand and Heart pub in Nottingham and the Metropolitan pub in Manchester. Join in with carols and seasonal pop classics to get you in the mood for the festive season. Adults only, all welcome, free entry, held in December.
Summer Solstice – London
An occasional summer spin-off of the ever-popular Carols and Barrels, the Summer Solstice is another singalong at the Palm Tree pub in east London, with no limit to the setlist! Adults only, all welcome, free entry, held at some point during the summer.
Holiday Christmas parties – Around the UK
The holidays often hold a Christmas party for the children they have taken on holidays and their families. The venue is usually close to where most of the children live. The helpers often go for a night out afterwards!
Helpers Reunion – Somewhere in the UK
An annual event for all Trust volunteers, usually covering a weekend and held at a UK venue. These are advertised on the private Facebook helpers' group and via personal email.
