London holiday at St Dominic’s
The London holiday at St Dominic's, Surrey
The Trust has offered a holiday for children living in London since 2008. This year the holiday will be based at St Dominic’s School near Godalming, Surrey, which is a residential special needs school standing in 56 acres of lush green countryside.
The school’s halls, chapel, play area and fields host a range of activities tailored to the children’s needs including clay modelling, cooking, t-shirt making, costume making, visits from therapy dogs and the magician, our own cinema, discos and our talent show. The location of the school is well suited to our day trips to swimming pools, theme parks and special needs activity centres.
The holiday is open to children with a wide range of needs living across London and care is taken to ensure that there is a busy timetable of activities tailored to the children on the holiday so that each child can participate to their fullest potential.
Our committed and enthusiastic volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and include teachers, doctors, engineers and students who share a good sense of humour and a caring nature.
The Newman Trust really does enhance the lives of the disabled children who attend.
The experience was extremely important to my son – thank you both and to all the team again, and to his helper who he adored spending time with!
When my son talks about the holiday his little face lights up.
As a family we gratefully appreciate all you have done for us. It takes special people to do something like that and you are up there with the best.
My daughter was with a group of very caring, friendly and hard-working staff who helped her to have a very memorable holiday.
This whole experience has helped [my daughter] to grow in confidence and has been a real boost to her social skills.
